Grocery Plan

Sunday Pre-Trip Shop (Tomorrow)

Hit H-E-B or your usual store before end of day. Buy everything for Mon-Wed meals plus road snacks. The camper fridge is small so keep it tight.

Fridge Items

  • [ ] Eggs (1 dozen)
  • [ ] Bacon (1 pack)
  • [ ] Deli turkey + ham
  • [ ] Sliced cheese
  • [ ] Tortillas (2 packs -- breakfast tacos + quesadillas)
  • [ ] Shredded cheese (quesadilla nights)
  • [ ] Butter
  • [ ] Salsa
  • [ ] Hummus
  • [ ] Baby carrots
  • [ ] Apples (bag)
  • [ ] Bananas
  • [ ] Creamer

Pantry / Dry Goods

  • [ ] Bread (1 loaf)

Supplies

  • [ ] Paper towels (2 rolls)
  • [ ] Small trash bags (1 box)
  • [ ] Dish soap (small bottle)
  • [ ] Sponge
  • [ ] Aluminum foil (1 roll)
  • [ ] Gallon + quart Ziploc bags
  • [ ] Ice (buy Monday morning -- last thing before the RV place)

Keep it simple

You're not running a restaurant. You need 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 2 dinners from this shop. The rest is road snacks and coffee.

Wednesday Restock -- Safeway in Page, AZ

Pick this up right after checking into Horseshoe Bend RV Park. You need Wed dinner through Fri morning -- then you're in hotels and eating out.

Fridge

  • [ ] Eggs (half dozen)
  • [ ] More deli meat + cheese (if running low)
  • [ ] Chicken breasts or ground beef (Wed or Thu dinner)
  • [ ] Salad kit (1 bag)
  • [ ] Fresh fruit
  • [ ] Milk or creamer

Pantry

  • [ ] More granola bars or snacks (if the first stash is gone -- it will be)
  • [ ] Any dinner supplies you need (check what's left)

Don't Forget

  • [ ] Ice for the cooler
  • [ ] More water bottles if you've burned through them

This is your last real grocery store

Grand Canyon Village has a small general store with basics at national park prices. Don't count on it for real meals.

Meal Plan At-a-Glance

Day Breakfast Lunch Dinner
Mon Eat before leaving Packed sandwiches on the road Cook at camp -- tacos or quesadillas
Tue Bacon + egg tacos at camp MidPoint Cafe (Adrian, TX) Pasta at camp (easy after a long day)
Wed Eggs at camp Grab lunch in Page Cook at camp -- chicken or tacos
Thu Cook at camp (last camper breakfast) Pack sandwiches for the canyon rim Grill or cook at Mather Campground
Fri Finish leftovers or eat at the canyon Grab lunch on I-40 Restaurant in Albuquerque (green chile everything)
